The Executive Board

The Executive Board of the Montauk Observatory consist of active community leaders who are dedicated to the construction, development, and future educational goals that the Montauk Observatory will provide to the community.

David Larkin

Terry Bienstock -President

Terry Bienstock is currently CEO of World Extend, LLC, a distributor of hosted desktop applications and secure remote access services in business and consumer markets. He also manages other ventures relating to new media platforms, such as Video-on-Demand, digital video recorders, broadband and mobile devices.
Prior to this, he served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Law and Government Affairs, for Comcast Cable Communications. In this position, he maintained business responsibility for Comcast’s Video on Demand platform, claims management, and Comcast University .

Susan HarderSusan Harder

Susan recieved her B.A. from the University of Virginia (Philosphy and Art History).  She retired from her former profession as a NYC art dealer and is now the founder of The Dark Sky Society and a resident of East Hampton and NYC.

Terry Bienstock

David Larkin - Vice President

David is managing Director of The Loft Group - Digital Distribution Content and Commerce which owns, manages and invests in unique entrepreneurial companies that are at the forefront of change in traditional industries .
He is also on the Board of Directors of Trickle Up,an innovative group that helps the world’s poorest people start businesses thorough micro grants and business training.  In the last 25 years, Trickle Up has started over 125,000 businesses in more than 90 countries.

 

Sean Tvelia

Sean Tvelia

Sean recieved his B.S. From SUNY Oneonta (Chemistry) and his M.S. from SUNY Stony Brook (Hydrogeology). He currently teaches Geology and Chemistry in Suffolk County Community College's department of Physcial Science. Sean is also acitve in the Astronomy program at SCC, often organizing and lecturing at SCCCs many open nights. He also acquired and maintains the college's robotic observatory located in Riverhead and is a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society

John Imperatore

John recieved his  B.A. from Duke University (Economics) and his J.D. Pace University. He is an East Hampton homeowner a Brooklyn real estate developer and an Astronomy enthusiast

   

Board of Advisors

The board of advisors is now being formed. It consists of many active community leaders, professional astronomers, authors, artist, historians, and public officials. The role of the Board of Advisors is to assist the Board of Directors in ensuring the affectiveness and proper functionality of the Montauk Observatory.

Deane Peterson Ph.D- Professor of Astronomy Stony Brook University

Michael Inglis PhD- Author and Professor at SCCC , NASA Solar System Ambassador, Fellow Royal Astronomical Society

Joseph Malave - Science Teacher at Montauk Public School, Nasa Educational Unit Teaching Coordinator

Tom Maddigan -Tom Madigan, Astronomer at Custer Institute; Fellow of the RAS; BS SUNY Stony Brook; Adjunct Professor of Astronomy, Queensborough Community College; Adjunct Faculty, Physical Sciences Dept, SCCC

David Cohn- Director of the Tupper Planetarium since October of 2003. He holds a Masters degree in Astronomy from the University of Western Sydney. Donna McCormick- President
